Hello, my name is Elcana Gertrude Mkandawire, the School Manager at Sekani Kindergarten. My love for children knows no bounds, transcending their backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, genders, and abilities. I firmly believe in the Wisdom of Confucius, who said, “I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.” Guided by this philosophy, I apply its principles by embracing the Cambridge and Montessori Curricula, as they both emphasize hands-on learning and individualized growth for each child.

My teaching journey began in Malawi in 2010, where I spent a year motivating secondary school students. I then moved to South Africa, embracing diverse educational settings that ranged from infant to upper elementary primary school. A significant aspect of my educational experience includes teaching children with special needs such as Autism, ADHD, and speech delay.
At Sekani Kindergarten, I merge my skills and insights to cultivate a vibrant learning environment that celebrates each child’s individuality.

I bring a creative and engaging approach to teaching through storytelling, reading and hands on activities. As a cookery coordinator at Sekani I enjoy introducing the world of cooking and healthy eating through fun and interactive culinary experiences.

I am Shackira M'balaka, a dedicated educator with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development from İstanbul Aydın University, Turkey. With 6 years of experience in nurturing young minds, I am passionate about empowering children to reach their full potential. When I'm not working with kids, I spend my time reading, exploring nature and sightseeing.
